Counting down!

Seven days until we leave.  Can hardly believe it's almost here.  Following the delay from May 1st due to my knee surgery, the past 6 weeks has seemed to crawl by.
Living in our RV since January 2013, has caused some items to need tweaking before hitting the road.  Cabinet latches needed adjustment.  Drawer catches (3) needed to be replaced.  We had to take down our yard canopy 10 days earlier than planned.  It finally wore out.  The canopy had holes in it from rubbing on the framework.  We'd ordered a replacement, but 10 days ago after a heavy thunderstorm, the frame broke.  My dear hubby is out now to purchase a replacement.  He's going to buy the same brand (Ozark Trails)  because of the durability.  The canopy had been up since April 2013.  Full time in the Texas sun and wind, and it lasted 14 months.  Curious now as to how long it will last up north.
Got word from our contractor.  The pad is done, the shed is done, the pipes are laid, and he was waiting on MEA (Matanuska Electric Association) to connect the power.  We'll be able pull in, park, hook up & start living our dream.
We are giving ourselves 3 weeks to do the drive but will probably be able to do it in 10 to 14 days.  Not being as young as we were, and with 3 artificial joints between us, we will have to stop and stretch our legs every couple of hours.
We've mapped the route and have our GPS systems up & running.  We'll use our walkie-talkies to communicate (especially in Canada).  Our mobile WiFi is set up.  Only a few more errands to deal with & we can hit the road.  Both vehicles have been serviced, tires rotated, oil changed.  Both Trooper & Goliath are ready to go.

This weekend, we'll take down the slide out stabilizers, move the cargo trailer from behind the RV. (I want to give Wheel Estate II a bath before we hit the road). One of our scare lights has a water leak we need to repair.  One last check on the roof to make sure it's intact.  Check and lube the hubs on the RV.  Fuel up on Saturday (both vehicles).  Sunday we will take down the puppy fence.  John wants to hit the road about 10:00 on Monday 7/7.  He's not an early riser.
I plan to post here daily (pending WiFi reception).  Please continue to follow and post comments.

The majesty that makes our desire to move so strong. For those who are curious.

In my previous post, I told the story of why we wanted to go, but I want to share more pictures of the beauty and majesty of this great state.  The wildlife is amazing.  Moose roam the cities.  The one in the second picture was just standing behind the tree, looking for a clear shot to cross the road.  The Canadian goose family were bathing and enjoying the beautiful summer day.  The bears were also roaming around looking for food, OR fun.  The sea lions basked in the sun and barked out greetings to each other.  This group of pictures was taken in June 2012.

When we went back up in February of 2013, we got to experience the fun of winter.  We found ourselves behaving like children again.  We watched the ceremonial start of the Iditarod race, viewed snow sculptures, watched "outhouse" races, and reindeer runs.  What fun.  Never felt cold.  "Do I have to come in now?"

We went back one more time in August 2013 to see the land we had purchased.

We played with our ATV "The Green Goblin"  What fun!

We currently have a contractor working to build an RV pad and get our well, septic, and electric hooked up.  He should be nearing the finish line.
